10,000+ Student Pilots Trained on a Mobile-First Learning Platform

A national aviation association replaced static training materials with an adaptive, mobile-first learning platform — driving a 40% jump in course completion and training 10,000+ student pilots.

The challenge

What they were up against.

AOPA's student-pilot training materials were largely static — PDFs, printed workbooks, and videos that hadn't been meaningfully updated in years. There was no adaptive learning, no progress tracking, no mobile experience. Student pilots were training on materials that didn't reflect how they actually consumed information, and completion rates showed it. AOPA needed a digital platform that could meet student pilots where they were — on their phones, in spare moments, learning at their own pace — while holding to the rigorous standards required for FAA-aligned content.

  • Training was static PDFs, workbooks, and dated videos
  • No adaptive paths, no progress tracking, no mobile experience
  • Materials didn't match how student pilots actually learn
  • Completion rates suffered as a result
The outcome

What changed.

Course completion rates improved 40% over the previous static materials. More than 10,000 student pilots have now trained on the platform, with a 94% learner-satisfaction rating. AOPA has been able to reach student pilots who wouldn't have engaged with the old format — growing the pipeline of new pilots at a time when the industry needs them most. What we built

The system.

Mobile-first learning platform

A purpose-built LMS for aviation education — adaptive content paths that adjust to a student's progress and knowledge gaps, interactive exercises and knowledge checks throughout, and seamless sync between mobile and desktop.

Instructor & admin dashboard

Per-student progress tracking, completion analytics, and content-management tools that let the curriculum team update materials without engineering support.

We didn't expect Frogslayer to know anything about the field of aviation, but they were really good at listening and not interjecting until they'd learned more. They actually offered up things I'd never thought of and helped me improve the look and feel of the app.
